What is Ambulatory Phlebectomy? Ambulatory phlebectomy is recommended for medium and large varicose veins. During this in-office procedure, we make tiny 2-3 mm pin point incisions into your skin. We then gently grasp the varicose vein and pull it out through the small puncture, one section at a time. Who should not be treated? Patients should wait at least three months after pregnancy or major surgery before being treated for vein disease. Persons with deep vein thrombosis or incompetence, and patients who cannot ambulate for other reasons are NOT good candidates for treatment.
